I don't get it. All that video was was just a camera panning over a static model. Tell me what I'm missing here.
Not sure if the best way to advertise an indie game is by bragging about industry standard post-processing effects, but who am I to assume what works and what doesn't in the indie biz?
Thanks for the feedback, I feel like a dick now. :P
"There are problems here and there, but if we disregard them will get a very exciting experience in the world of gaming..."
That's not how a review works.
"Matt Liebl questions if the ad placement is really that bad or if Xbox users are looking for a reason for Xbox to stop charging for Gold Membership."
I'd say it's a bit of both considering the latter motive is justifiable at this point.
You might not want to google Windows 8.
"...from what we’re hearing, it will be an RPG similar to Fallout: New Vegas."
Nobody from THQ, Obsidian or South Park Studios said that, they're just sayin it because New Vegas is the only Obsidian game they've ever played.
Gonna have to agree with RedDeadDestroyer to an extent, it's not enough just to add some stuff, that's not what I aim to pay $60 for. MW2 introduced the practice of frivolous adding that ultimately threw off the balance of things, and Blops barely changed the gameplay at all, justifying it with new maps and modes. It's not enough to just add things if you aren't changing and refining the fundamental gameplay, not if you're doing yearly full-priced releases. Though in MW3...
Not a fan of the recent CoD games (if you hate CoD 4 but like other shooters of its kind you're a filthy liar, but everything since MW2 has been lackluster), but I must agree with Kotaku, Eurogamer and millions of fanboys with infinite pockets of fanboy money that CoD is the king of the shooter "feel", and what most people seem to forget is that it's mostly due to the sound design. The gun all have a satisfying 'clackity-clackity-clack 39; or 'chuta-chuta-chuta'...
Why save it? It had a good run, just let it die and move on to a new IP already, don't torture the franchise like this.
Poor EA getting a mere $140m?
Hasn't this theory been debunked to death? Pirates =/= potential customers, not necessarily. The majority of people who pirate weren't going to buy it anyway. I've seen game developers dispute this.
No, a 9/10 is an amazing game. 10/10 is supposed to represent something that is basically perfect, even though that's not what a 10/10 represents in the game industry nowadays.
It's their job to help me distinguish the masterpieces from the other masterpieces by actually having a bar to compare ratings against instead of blindly calling every game perfect. Certainly UC3, GOW3, Skyward Sword, MW3, BF3, Skyrim, Dark Souls, Portal 2, AssCreed Bros, Saints Row 3 and LA, Arkham City, can't ALL be on the same exact level of perfection, yet all of them have recieved 10/10's from various different reviewers. If I'm some guy just going off of review scores ho...
Considering the sheer amount of 10/10's being passed out these days, it's hard to tell how good this game actually IS based on the score alone. Such is one of the many downsides of giving fucking 10's to every game with a scrap of polish.
Oh man, a game got a great score instead of a perfect score! We must burn the heretics! They must be trying to generate traffic with their ATROCIOUSLY LOW SCORE.
God damn you people are sensationalist.
Ironic how Bethesda uses a movie to advertise a game when DICE advertises gameplay that is essentially a movie.
"150GB in size..."
It's okay Carmack, nobody wanted it anyway. What I would've loved were just regular goddamn textures instead of massive, yet somehow low-res ones.
Even a few previewers said that the gameplay wasn't largely improved or even changed much. A couple of new weapons and killstreak rewards =/= gameplay improvements.
Steam has been the best way to play games since 2005 (it was underwhelming before then, but I digress). It's made so many advances it's emberassing how far behind services like Xbox Live and PSN are.
